Standard Height vs High Cube Containers

By February 14th, 2018 About Containers No Comments

When choosing a container to purchase or rent, there is often an option between a Standard height container or a High Cube (HC) container. At a glance, these containers might look very similar.  However, there are different benefits and uses for each type of container.

Standard Height Container:

At Standard Height container is 8’6”H on the exterior.  This type of container is a staple in the portable storage world. It is safe to assume that most containers are this standard height unless stated otherwise. Standard height containers come in a range of sizes, most commonly 10’, 20’ and 40’ containers.  Standard height containers are the most popular and are suited for just about any storage application.

High Cube (HC) Container:

A High Cube (HC) container is 1’ (a foot) taller than a standard height container.  If you need to stack your product or if your items are a bit taller than normal, the extra foot of vertical space is a great benefit.  These 9’6”H containers are usually found in 20’, 40’, 45’ and 53’ sizes (the 40’ size being the most abundant). If you have the height clearance, high cube containers are definitely an option to consider.
